What's The Rush?
Merely as an observation, it seems to me that there is a new fad that is going around with people that are fresh or anywhere from 2-3 years after graduation. In fact, it's almost a plague, and I use that term quite strongly. What am I talking about? Marriage, of course.
To my knowledge, it's a fantasy of most couples in high school that are so in love with each other that after graduation they rush themselves to the altar to engage in one of the most spiritual and most committing of responsibilities. The responsibility of another person. Believe me, I was one of them. I thought I had everything set up, and was ready to take the biggest step in my life, next to graduation and moving out of course. I thought I had the world in my pocket. And then I stopped.....and I realized something. I was scared. The one thing that no one is supposed to be afraid of....and I was scared.
Now I know what this might sound like. Adrian is afraid of commitment. Adrian can't hold a relationship together. Maybe you're right. I want to get it out of the way and say that I have nothing against people who are already married. To those who make it work, I say congratulations to you. For me, I just don't believe I can do it yet, and it's been proven to me. The girl that I thought cared and loved me proved otherwise when I wouldn't marry her. (That, and not being baptized at her convenience.)
I have a plan. It's something that I've spent many a night praying about. I was meant for more that just settling down immediately. I have a purpose, and I have to fulfill it. A person recently called me selfish for such actions, that I have a commandment to fulfill to the Lord before I attempt such an endeavor, and that my partner would support me. Maybe so, but I can't stop. Not when I've come this far. I write this in spite of two people who I have recently become distant of, and while I'm almost sad for such a separation, I will not dwell. May they enjoy their lives being married, but I have a job to do first. Again, nothing against anyone that is married, but I'm not ready. I've set out to make something, and I will finish what I started.

The Random
Not one, but two! Yep, a double post by me. After that last blog being so negative and somewhat depressing, I figure I'd do something a little lighter. Found this survey on Alex's blog, so I figured what the hey? Here's somethings you maybe didn't know about me.

1. What is in the back seat of your car? Books, my Starbucks apron, and just this morning, 10 bucks. =)
2. When was the last time you threw up? Oh, it's been a while. Last time I was sick and I couldn't stand.
3. What color is your toothbrush? White and Aqua....horrible combination.
4. Name one person that made you smile today? Dax
5. What were you doing at 8 am this morning? Being woken up by my phone.
6. What were you doing 30 minutes ago? Driving back from Snowflake.
8. Have you ever been to a strip club? Nope.
9. What is the last thing you said aloud? Are they dry yet?
10. What is the best ice cream flavor? Cookie dough. For real.
11. What was the last thing you had to drink? Agua.
12. What are you wearing right now? Shorts and a t-shirt for da sleeping.

14. Have you bought any new clothing items this week? Just a few. The stores in New Mexico are better than the ones up here.

Oh how far the apples fall.....
Greetings all. I figure that since it's been a while since I've posted, I'd update you on my weekend. It was interesting.....to say the least.
As some of you know, I spent the last weekend visiting family in New Mexico. I felt it was a necessary recess to get away from the stresses of work and class and just "get away" for a few days. In all honesty, I almost wish that I would have stayed here instead of going. The only escape that I had was hiding out with my cousin Woodrow, where I had the chance to reminisce with a family member who actually cared, after my immediate family of course.
It started with us arriving there. Just a quick history on my family, my dad's side of the family is unpredictable, rash, and at some times utterly clueless to what goes on around them if it isn't directly in front of their face. We arrive, and no sooner do I set my bag down that an argument erupts in the kitchen. My God-mother and father (aunts when I was baptized catholic) were having at it, and it didn't help that he was inebriated beyond normality. It was here I discovered Leon Family curse #1: The relationships in the family are for naught, and soon wither away to nothing. The adults hold no morality to the people they know, and it makes me sad that I have to see this part of my family so divided.
Leon curse #2: Alcohol is a constant companion to those in my family for when the matters are at their worst. I was constantly depressed to see not only my dad, but my brother, my uncles, and even my own cousin, not even my age, proceed to drink away their problems with the hope that the incurring hangover will wipe out any memory of sorrows current, or long forgotten. Sadly, my problems didn't end there.
The skeletons in my family's closet run deeper than I will admit, at least on this blog. It truly scares me to know that this is what has run in my family for so long. I know that I am the reaper of my own destiny, but I can't help thinking that so many of mine have succumb to these alternatives, and that should anything happen, will I break and fall just as they have? I made a promise to myself that I would be the black sheep, the rebel, the a-gi-ta-tor as it will, and show them that I would not give up, as they have.
This trip was an eye-opener for me, but for better or for worse I'm not sure. I learned things of my kin that most people would not want to hear, or things that would normally show up on an episode of Jerry Springer. I can take comfort, however, knowing that I am in control of what happens to me. Maybe I can be the one that inspires them to look up, and see that they can strive to the top, and just maybe...I can help them.

The Results Are In
After a week of memorizing, cold readings, and a most real uncertainty, the final casting sheet for the shows 1776 and As It Is In Heaven. Of course I didn't have a shot at Alex's play, I don't quite fit in with the female crowd if you catch my drift. So without further ado, Adrian Leon will act in the phenomenal musical 1776 as the Maryland representative and general pompous pig, Mr. Samuel Chase.
Just a quick shout out to the people who auditioned, you guys were amazing! It was a tough two nights, but they were well worth it. I can't wait to start rehearsals on Tuesday. It will be amazing!!!

Opinions Needed!
So I have an audition in two days. I have a monologue that I've been working on, and I needed some opinions. Tell me what you think. It's from Le Miserables, the movie. The character Marius speaks out against the kings actions.
Marius: We can't strike. Why not? Because it's against the law to strike! The king has declared that everything is a crime. Writing is a crime. Two weeks ago, the police destroyed the Galaty, the worker's newspaper. They smashed the press. They burned over two thousand newspapers but that didn't satisfy the king. Three days ago at a student meeting, a peaceful meeting, soldiers broke it up and arrested two of my friends. Writing, talking, going to class, speaking out is a crime. Being poor is a crime. Being poor is the worst crime of all. And if you commit these crimes, you are condemned for life. Our government has no mercy, no pity, no forgiveness. And there's no work for us. And because there's no work, our children are starving. Tell me: why are we powerless to save the people we love? All of you know. Tell me - why? The king betrayed us. We were promised the vote, do we have it? Do we have the vote? Where is the republic our fathers died for? It's here my brothers. It lives here in our heads. But most of all, best of all, it's here in our hearts. In our hearts - WE ARE THE REPUBLIC!
